.410 Single Shot Barks Again!
« on: May 12, 2020, 11:04:54 AM »
With our canceled youth hunt and delayed opener lots of learning has happened with our 10yr old daughter and the elusive T-Tom turkey. Very glad we took time to enjoy the youth hunt opener with the camera at hand. Once it did open mom and daughter made several attempts to call in the big Tom's with only Jake's coming in. Patients were tested to say the least. So on Mothers day about 1:30 pm I made mention you guys should set up the hut and do some calling. They got in and set up at 2pm. Some great yelps from Tree Killers wing bone yelper got an immediate response! Here he comes in on a string. Stops about 30yds and teases in full strut. She knows where he needs to be for the shot. At 3pm he finally comes closer to 10yds and Bang bird down! There calling was superb but my decoy configuration helped some too. :chuckle:

So cool. Not many people can say they've killed a turkey with a 410.   :IBCOOL:

Good work!
The decoy configuration didn't hurt a bit, that's for sure.

Congratulations!

Great bird and lucky daughter to have a family hunt like that!

What kind of shotgun?  My first gun was a break action 410 that looked just like that one.  It was stamped K-Mart!
