information on Blewett Pass area
« on: May 17, 2020, 06:18:10 PM »
It was the first time I hunted east of the mountains for coyote. Having once camped up near Liberty, I thought the area further north by Old Blewett Pass Rd. would be well worth scouting for future hunts. My buddy and I were very surprised by the lack of any sightings, scat, or tracks in that area for any species. It was like this last year but east of US 97.

What are we ignorant of?
Is that just a bad area to hunt?

I spend a lot of time around blewett and wouldn’t really think of going there to target coyotes. I might see a random dog here and there but nothing consistent. Head more towards Quincy and Moses lake

Consider moving to the east a few miles where things open up more. Or as stated even farther east like the N Basin. There are yotes in the forested hills but I have not ever had much success calling them. Plus visibility can be limited, you may have called them in and not even known.
Fish hard, hunt harder!

I have a gold claim north of the pass and hear yotes on occasion at night  when sitting around camp working my concentrates but would not say there is an abundance of song dogs, and IMO sure not enough for me to consider a trip down to hunt just the dogs.
