UGQ Bandit Quilt
« on: July 20, 2020, 08:45:40 PM »
Just ordered myself a UGQ Bandit XL Quilt.  I have learned, I don't fit in Mummy bags very easily.  Even if they do fit me right, I don't like the feeling of being wrapped up like that.  I'm pretty pumped about it.  Last year sucked, I used a 32 F sleeping bag as a quilt in 25 F weather, and I stayed fairly warm, but it wasn't wide enough to be a quilt, so I struggled at times with it.

I ordered the 10*F bandit XL with 1 oz Over stuff.  It will come in at about 2lbs and will take up far less room.

Anybody else running a quilt for backcountry?

I run a ugq 0 degree quilt and love it.  Easy to shed the extra heat if need be.  But plenty toasty when you wrap it around tight.  Did you get the sewn foot box?  You just need a good pad to go with it.  I have an exped down mat 9 for when I get packed in or a exped synmat ul I picked up for a backpack hunt this year.

I sleep under a quilt. Haven't tried running one yet.

I wish that EE quilts came just a little bit longer in the standard length.

I'm sure you know this so I apologize, but you can custom order EE quilts, should be able to get any length you want?

Yeah when I ordered mine I just ordered regular figuring I'd be good as a 5'8" guy. Not knocking the brand or the design, just wish the one I had was a bit longer. It's fine as long as I use the straps and wear something around my neck and shoulders

EE quilt.   Mine is wide/long version.  Light and warm enough for the Sept high country

I’d probably go back to a mummy for anything after Sept, though.

It can get pretty chilly. Worst case I can always sleep in my clothes/puffy. Properly strapped down and out of the wind, it's rare that I get more than a bit chilly.

I use a quilt 3 seasons and a heavy normal mummy when the snow flies.  Unless it's really cold, the mummy usually gets used as a quilt as well.

Most of the time these days I'm in the wall tent with a 30 pound flannel sleeping bag which is awesome.
