Beach Fishin' Long Beach
« on: August 19, 2020, 12:34:27 PM »
Anyone done it?  We'll be down in Bay Center this weekend and I'm thinking about making the drive to Long Beach to do some casting.  What should I be taking?  Buzz bombs/spoons for salmon and bait for perch?

TIA! :)

Curtis

I love it!
I use a simple 2-4oz weight on the bottom of a crappie spreader rig, with berkly gulp sandworms in red and camo.
Really helpful to scout good areas of structure at low tide for the perch. I try to fish the 3 hours leading to high tide, and the first hour of the outgoing. Seems to be slower the rest of the time.

Got some sand weights at bobs last trip i really like. Thry are a holloe triangle with little nubs to help dig in. They work awesome.

Well, made it down there for some fairly decent sustained winds.  That sent my whole "you guys make some sand castles, I'll be right back" plan right out the window.  I think my poor kids made it about 15 minutes on the beach chasing the seagulls before we said "screw this, time for some cocoa" :chuckle:

Thanks for all the advice guys.  I'll be trying again another time!

We were in Long Beach Thursday and Friday, it was pretty rough out there!

Yeah 15 minutes might have been an exaggeration.  It didn't last long.  Willapa clamming on Saturday went much better.
