Observations from LoMo(Snake R.)
« on: August 24, 2020, 12:03:34 PM »
The wife and I went fishing yesterday for a couple hours above Lower Monumental dam on the Snake before I tired of the stagnant hot weather. Caught a few catfish, the biggest being 19 inches, 3.5lbs. Added a couple of keeper perch and threw back a dink walleye. The wife talked to some guys at the launch that had a good morning catching catfish

At the launch we noticed a BUNCH of dead baby fish. Little 1.5-2 inchers. They'd been dead awhile as they were basically down to the skeletal remains. We also noticed areas on the river a few miles from the launch where they were floating, Anybody have a guess as to what they were? Salmon fry?

Water clarity was not the best, green algae mixed throughout. Kind of ucky I guess. 71 to 74 degrees on the depth finder.

Whats everybodies thoughts on filleting a mess of fish at the boat launch and leaving the carcasses where you back in?
