Muzzy Teanaway Quality Buck

Howdy all, I was lucky enough to draw the Teanaway muzzy quality hunt. I have spent a lot of time in that area over the years hunting grouse, bear, deer and elk but just switched full time to muzzy a couple years ago. I have spent a good deal of time up there this year already and will be chasing elk in there during early archery thanks to a multi season elk tag. I have seen some good bucks over the years up there just have to get away from the crowd and they are there.

My question is buck movement in that unit by mid November (I know weather plays into it). But never deer hunting up there that late does anyone have any info or tips they can share? I'm feeling really good about the time I'm putting in but any additional info just helps the cause. Thanks!!

Honesty, that’s probably the toughest rut tag in the state imo. It’s pure luck coming across a shooter in that timeframe. It’s year dependent(for me anyhow) whether the deer are moving in areas I know or not. A lot based on wolf movement. It would be a fun tag regardless, there are some great deer in there. Just a tough tag. I would keep expectations realistic and just enjoy the overall experience with a bonus of whacking a nice buck.  I’m sure others have a different perspective than I do, but that’s my experience in there. Thanks for the input and it doesn't surprise me. Should still be a fun hunt having the only tag and it is any buck so...… There is always a chance. Will see what I see closer to that time and during early archery elk to get a bearing on which end of the unit to focus on. Thanks again.

I've seen one trophy quality buck in there in the last five years , it should be a fun hunt but dont expect a target rich environment. id look for doe groups on the south slopes and keep checking them for a breeder. a small amount of snow will move the deer down if that helps.

A good buddy of mine drew that tag 5-6 years ago, and he had a great hunt.  He did have to cover a lot of country and glassed like crazy, and finally caught up to a good buck near a group of does up in a subalpine basin.  The rut activity increased the visibility of the bucks, as one would expect.
