Weird late season bull(?), was his plumbing normal?  Thanks

Are you referencing the spike from bigbds61? Spikes frequently don't shed their velvet. Mine from Idaho also had velvet on the tips of both antlers. Dad's spike from last year didn't shed any velvet at all.

Yup.  Plumbing was all normal.  He was the only bull with 15 to 20 cows.

Have taken a few, helped with more and looked at a bunch in the south east, have not seen it, ever, on the dry side.  Thanks for the reply

First time hunting elk in Idaho.  Not what I was looking for as I saw a couple shooters during archery season with no luck but went back during rifle season and got some meat for the freezers.  I have my Idaho Panhandle A tag for 2021 so I will be looking to improve on it.

My old boss in Wyoming defined a trophy as any animal you could drive to and load whole, congrats!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

It was a 350 yard down hill drag in 12" of snow so really not too bad.  Worse part was climbing up to him.  It was a steep clearcut.

  all. grats to all.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Well.  That was about 5 miles from the gate, so it could have been a little better 😉😂😂😂.  Thank you
