I have 6 in my quiver. I take two dozen to camp with me. We end up practicing and continue to make sure sight are good to go after banging around in the hills.

5 in the quiver and I would probably bring mine nine practice arrows to shoot when not hunting and make sure something didn't shift during the trip.

I carry four in the quiver and the eight left over from the dozen as spare. Three are designated practice , the other five are my best spinners with broadheads. If I empty my quiver of four it's time for a break back at camp anyway.

After multiple trips hunting out of state, I agree with five in the quiver and at least 10-12 extras. You have to take into account how many you will lose in the field while hiking, on horseback, on atv's, practicing etc.
No quiver is perfect when it comes to holding arrows and traveling in the field
or to the field.
You would hate to be in the field and have to leave your hunt to travel to a NEW BOW SHOP in A NEW STATE because you only brought 8 arrows and lost or broke a few.
My two cents..

For those that carry 5 in the quiver, has anyone actually burned through all those before returning to camp? Of course if you are backpack hunting its different but if I am basecamp hunting, I have 3 in my quiver.

Six in the quiver with one tipped for grouse. Don't like destroying a broadhead on a grouse. Sometimes that grouse arrow is also a flu flu. Sometimes two of the arrows are for grouse.

I use a 7 arrow quiver. Hopefully never need to use more than 1 but things can go sideways and a grouse here or there can make a dent in the ammo.

I was on a roll for a few years. Never needed to shoot more than one arrow.
Then one year I hunted hard for 10 days and on the last day at first light came face to face with a cow. I went panic mode, stuck a tree next to her on the first shot, tree limb deflected on the second shot, either under or over her on the third. Was out of arrows. Learned my lesson and always have a full quiver. Came in handy 2016 I drew a good tag. Hunted hard eight days straight. Spotted a rag 3 that I was going to kill. Hiked/ran a mile to get above him on the rocks. Ranged 46 yards. Shot over his back.. Shot 2 over his back. Couldnt figure out what was wrong. Ranged him again shot over his back. Shot four I figured range finder was way off so I shot for 10 yards less and still over his back. Last arrow, put the 20 yard pin on him and smoked him. Lesson, ensure you range finder is set for angle compensation (not sure how I switched it off but I did) and ALWAYS carry a full quiver.
