Units 245 and 250 for late archery elk
« on: September 16, 2020, 11:45:08 AM »
I'll be working in Wenatchee for late archery elk season.  Wondering if anyone has seen elk in units 245 or 250 in October/November?  I was thinking about targeting these units because I might be able to hunt after work and they're any elk units.  I'm in Spokane area so I hunt elk around here but I thought I might bring my bow along just in case.  I don't want your honey holes, just maybe a brief yes/no answer or something.  The WDFW scouting report doesn't have great info on Chelan/Douglas counties for elk.  Thanks and good luck this year I know we all could use some!

I grew up in 245 and spent most of my youth in the woods.  I have only seen a dozen elk in the unit.  They are there but they are in very small groups

:yeah:  There are elk, but very few and far between, not worth hunting unless you know where they are seen on the regular.

I’ve been in 250 a lot. 245 a few times.. have never seen an elk in either unit. Not even a track.

Was just up in the 245 archery hunting deer and ran across some dandy elk tracks and game trails. They are in there. Just like mentioned above not worth going after unless you know the small pockets that hold them.

I live a lot father east now days but this got me thinking hard.  1978-1997 I saw 3 on the Chumstick, group of 4 at White river ranch (twice in the same week) , 1 cow at the old Winton saw mill, and a raghorn and a couple of cows at the old Cougar Inn.

There are locals in these units that kill good bulls nearly every year.

I have the multi season elk tag but I like bow hunting so I was planning to use bow during muzzy.  Which unit would you local guys focus on around the Wenatchee area?  I would be trying to sneak off work early to get in short evening hunts.  Thanks!

Thanks to all of you that replied to my post. I ended up killing a spike yesterday so my tag is filled and so is my freezer. 45 yard double lung didn’t go 20.

Great bull!  Any elk is a good elk.  Did you get him around the Spokane area?

My educated guess is it did not come from those units

I forgot to mention I killed him around Spokane area. Thanks for the advice might have to look into chasing deer with the bow in these units soon. Working out of town I bring my bow along for some armed hiking
