Almost!
« on: April 16, 2009, 09:57:31 AM »
Me and my buddy got into a bunch of birds this morning, I had one Tom come out of the tree and land right in front of me, he hit the ground and came right at me, the problem was the lack of cover, it was just  pine needle covered ground and that's it.  There was one tree between the bird and me and when he went behind it I drew back and when he popped out I started to put the pin on him and he saw me and flew... he was 8 small steps from me! 20 feet or less!  Fun morning, now I gotta get some work done.

Sounds like a heart-thumper!

I had an ALMOST today also.  Got to full draw on a huge tom that followed a hen past the ground blind, but he never stopped or even slowed down.  He walked/ran by at 26 yards.  It would have been perfect....the video was running and everything was going well; all he had to do was stop for half a second.  I guess that's why they give us a month to hunt them!
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

Yes, they were gobbling right on top of us... pretty fun!

I'm starting to feel the fact that I got up at 2:15!  Only a couple more hours of work though.
