Probably a good thing.  Remington seems to have finally gotten their act together on the marlins to a large extent these last couple years, but they damaged the marlin name so bad that a lot of guys wont touch a remlin now.  Maybe with ruger taking it over it can help the brand out.

They started going down hill when they started the 870 Express, if they worked OK but a lot were boat paddles. Then picking up the Biakal line and hosed them up as well.

:yeah:

Sad end to an era, though I am glad to see Ruger taking the Marlin line.

Marlin was sold off to Ruger, the ammo and accessory part went to Vista Outdoors and the manufacturing line went to Roundhill, an investment company.

Bunch of other pieces and parts were sold, Sportsman's Warehouse picked up the Tapco brand.

I sure hope so. Lever-actions are having a bit of a renaissance right now and Marlin has some interesting offerings... but I know someone who got one brand new with an unrifled barrel a few years ago. I know Ruger's had a couple hiccups here and there, but nothing like that.
Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered

Looking forward to seeing some interesting chamberings in marlin rifles. How about a “super 1894” in something like .480 ruger? :chuckle:
