East side late archery
« on: November 09, 2020, 10:10:06 AM »
Still have an east side tag and def haven't got being in the woods out of my system for the season yet. Thinking about heading back in for the late archery hunt over thanksgiving. Unfortunately my "familiar" area is spike only that has seen a bazzillion rifle hunters in there over the last 10 days... anyone on here ever have any luck in late archery in units that get blasted by rifle hunters? I have never hunted the late hunt so just curious about success rates...

Very very very low success rates for spike elk during late archery. With that said, there will be plenty of elk around and lots of spikes left

Probability so low everyone should just stay home.  Saw a handful of spikes in late archery year but I've also gone years without seeing any spikes.

GMU 335 is spike or antlerless. find some elk, knock on the ranchers door and ask if they're okay with you taking one off their ranch?

What units? But the Peola unit late archery above Pomeroy maybe?
Missed a darn good back there up at the rose Springs area late archery.
I didn't hunt Elk but did see a whole herd crossing the road on my way up one day just before the public lands up there so...?
Good luck.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
