Pancakes
« on: September 20, 2020, 07:57:24 AM »
First time pancakes on the BS griddle. They cooked great. My mistake was using a thick batter. Should have thinned it out. All in all 🤑🤑🤑😉🥃🇺🇸

Blacklab, They look good to me, (as long as those Dark Spots in the batter are Huckleberries).  :o
The other stuff frying on the grill are scrambled eggs I hope?

Sourdough Pancake's have always been my favorite.

Sourdough is my favorite also .

My mom used to make plain old Bisquick or the like pancakes and ad beer instead of water . They dont taste like true sourdough .  But you get some of that flavor . Flat beer works best .

I still make them this way if I have the occasion to make pancakes out of mix . I prefer a thinner batter .

Best pancake recipe.

Griddle Cakes
Makes 8 cakes ~ preheat griddle
1 1/4 cups silled regular all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted

Into a bowl sift together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. In a small bowl beat together milk and egg; stir in butter. Add to dry ingredients and stir just until moistened (batter will be lumpy). Using 1/4 cup measure, pour batter onto ungreased griddle. Bake until top is bubbly and edges baked. Tum and bake other side. Serve at once with butter and syrup.

Thinner pancakes, use skim or 1%.  Thicker, edge toward 2% or whole milk.

Variation

Buttermilk Griddle Cakes
Follow above recipe except reduce baking powder to 2 teaspoons and add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. Use 1 1/4 cups buttermilk in place of milk

I have not found a reason to look for any other recipe.

I’ll have to try that.  Always use Snoqualimie Lodge mix.   Sprinkle some huckleberries  on top of poured batter, maybe a few chocolate chips for kids,  good stuff.

Teflon electric griddle is tough to beat for pancakes.

I use the berries and fruit that we grow and pick to make pie filling that we use as toppings instead of making pie. This year I made raspberry, wild huckleberry, marionberry, blueberry, apple and peach. They all go great on top of pancakes and French toast but my favorites on pancakes are peach and blueberry.

I just made some this weekend:

1 cup sourdough starter
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
maybe 3 tbsp oil
Flour to make it the right thickness

Making them from scratch is so easy and so much better than mix.

Kodiak cake mix is the way to go. Add in some cinnamon and then top with apples and greek yogurt. Money
