I had 2 of them behind the house through the winter found one of them dead about a month ago. The other is till running around up there. Somebody was telling me it was from having fleas and malnutrition and they end up losing there hair and usually don't make it over the winter. Don't know this for a fact though.

I have seen a lot of deer with that problem  on the wetside this winter, including fawns...
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Its actually caused by a species of chewing louse that is believed to have been introduced by European deer species on game ranches.  The one tracker got a picture of looks like it needs a blanket and saddle, not a toupee.

I saw four blacktails today that looked just like that deer. They looked piebald almost white in some places on their bodies.
