@Kain

Been a while since we have seen you on here! Welcome back.

Yeah haha, I forget how I set up my FoxPro years ago and all the software was on a different laptop.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Wish I could try out the features on several electronic callers.  Wonder if anyone on the Peninsula has a FoxPro Fusion I could play with for a few minutes if I met you somewhere like a park?  Ditto for basically any e-caller, Lucky Duck, whatever.  I'd especially like to handle and run an Iotec for a few minutes.  Iotec Sabre would be my first choice to look over but any Iotec would advance my knowledge.

Then... I thought it would be helpful to a bunch of us in the market for an e-caller if we could meet people who own an e-caller and play around with several at the same time.  Anyone with an e-caller who is willing to come could meet the others somewhere.  I'd even drive to the mainland for that.

Don't know if any local company reps would come or not.  I am the world's worst organizer, and am not going to try to set this up, but am interested if anyone else wants to. Bearmanric?

Maybe Cabela's or Sportsman's Warehouse already holds such an event?

Use to do seminars at Cabelas and other places. Always brought my Foxpros to show I prefer Foxpros with my Hand calls.

Do you still conduct seminars? Obviously post virus.

I just bought a FoxPro Shockwave from Cabela's for $399 on their Black Friday sale.  I just checked and looks like they are back up to $499.  I never had an e-caller before so I been learning how to program it and use it.  The Shockwave has a lot of features on it that will take awhile to master, for me anyway.  I am ready now to give it a shot probably around xmas time.  I also added Steve's cougar call package from Rain Shadow.  Both Steve and FoxPro had great customer support answering questions for me.

Who needs a foxpro when you could just use an RR1? Lol

First, I've not used every electronic call out there, only a few like ICO, Stewart, and a foxpro.
What I have found is they all are close, some very close, but not truly realistic.  Yes they can and do work, but it seems to me to be a shell of the real thing.   For example, If I'm hunting with a red-tailed hawk and she makes a rear end grab on a rabbit, that rabbit scream will bring in EVERY crow, songbird, cows, dogs, horse, you name it.  They come in wide open looking for the source of that noise.

When I use the electronic versions, I can get a response, but it's never the same caliber of response as the real thing.  Crows may respond, songbirds almost never and older coyotes seldom show themselves.

That's just my experience in my area using the above mentioned electronic calls.  In harsher weather or areas with less agriculture I'm sure it may work better than what I'm seeing.

Just my .02 worth.
You'll never get a Big'un if you keep shooting Little'un's.

FWIW update:  I bought the Icotec Sabre.  It came closest to having the features I want.  Just got it and haven't tried it in the woods yet. Seems like a good unit, LOUD and clear, easy remote that actually does what the button indicates it will do when pushed.   :)

Tonight I loaded some Rainshadow lion vocals and some of my own sounds, proven sounds I have used, and I will use some of the 280 sounds that came on the Sabre.

Meanwhile, a friend who is new to calling predators bought an Icotec Outlaw on Dec. 20 or 21, loaded some Rainshadow lion vocals the next day and called in a cougar to his first stand with it, on Dec. 23.  He shot it at 14 yards.  Then on the 27th, his second calling stand with his new toy, he called in another lion, which my grandson shot.  Rainshadow has the stories.

It is not why I bought but Icotec offers a 20% discount to Law enforcement and veterans.

I purchased a Lucky Duck Revolt and absolutely love it.  It has increadible audio and you can easily add mp3s to it.  The remote works great.  I would also recommend buying the lithium battery.  With the battery you can call all day on a single charge.  I hunted two weekends and got a bobcat and coyote.  I'm still pretty new and trying to learn how to use it but I like it so far.

Cheers,

Tim

I never thought about putting it on a tripod

I took my decoy into wal mart with me before I had an e caller, it didn’t take long to find a small tri pod that was built for a camera to thread onto that matched right up to the base of my decoy. Spray painted the tripod brown and it worked great as a stand. I’d imagine a guy could do something similar with an e caller, although I usually just set mine in a bush, on a stump or right on the ground
