Something seemed a bit off.....
« on: January 17, 2021, 07:42:41 PM »
So I went in today to purchase my tags for the 2021 season. I purchased the Deer-Elk-Bear-Cougar package. I also applied for multi-season deer and elk as well as spring bear. The vendor didn't ask me 1) the method I was hunting both deer and elk 2) if I was hunting east or west side for elk. Now mind you, I haven't put in for multi-season for quite some time, so if that is the norm, I apologize. Also, for spring bear, I could have sworn you had to pick the unit as well. That's the way it seems when I look at the regs. If I am completely wrong, I do apologize.

Im guessing that you just bought the license package.... and you where not given and elk or deer tag ?  If thats the case you will pick a method for hunting and whether you want a east or westside elk tag at a later time. Multi-season permits are a special draw.
Spring bear is a special draw that needs to be applied for.

Correct. I was given both the bear and cougar tags. I was not given the deer or elk tags. If I remember correctly, last time I applied for the multi-season, they still asked methods and side of state. I did also apply for the spring bear. But from looking at the regs, it seems to imply that you choose the GMU you are applying for the spring bear.

Your way better off not getting your deer and elk tag right now if your applying for multi season.  Now if you draw you don’t have to return the original tag.   You still need to put in for the multi season draw or you will only get put in for points.   You also have to put in for the units you wish / hope to draw spring bear.  The vendor could have done this for you but now you will likely have to call it in or do it online.  It is super simple to do online.  If you have questions about the process don’t hesitate to ask.

Also....if you don’t draw multi season.....don’t forget to get your tags befor hunting season. They are free you just have to go pick them up.  This is when they will specify what weapon and what side of the state your hunt elk.  There may be a small vendor fee.
