Enclosed Trailer Conversions - Let's see em'
« on: February 04, 2021, 03:39:29 PM »
I'm mulling over between building and buy options on multi-purpose cargo trailer. Obviously, it's gotta be a decent hunting spike camp but also be versatile for quad/dirt bikes too. I've spent WAY too many hours on YouTube videos, any builds by HuntWa members?

I’m in the early stages of mine, as in bought trailer and got it insulated and that’s it  :chuckle: when we found out we had another kid on the way I had to switch gears to a house remodel. Hoping to pick back up on the trailer this summer and do lift kit, window, cabinets and wood stove. Plan on keeping it pretty basic, I went with a 14x7 for the side by side.

Wife and I started on ours this last summer. It is to the point of being usable, just waiting on the weather.
8.5x24 v-nose, extra height. Counter tops/cabinets up front with sink and water heater. Wired for 12v and 120V. Portable A/C unit, fully insulated walls and ceiling. Elevator bed in the rear so we can haul the Camaro and sleep in it on long trips or out of town cruises. Added one window for venting the ac but plan to add a couple more as we go. Adding an rv style awning to the outside hopefully this year. Power is all rigged under the countertop with a converter/charger for the 12 volt system when on shore power. Water tank is  also under the counter with fill hose mounted by the door.

There is an upper cabinet currently that isn’t in this photo and all trim is back in.
6 12v outlets total, 2 on countertop and 4 others down the walls. I added some cheap Amazon LED strip lights on the ceiling that are almost too bright, but will work great. Ceiling will eventually be covered in FRP panels, but that can be done at any time. I will take more pics of how it is now as these are all lacking recent progress.

I scanned that post before starting this one... even chuckled to see a reply from me inline, still interested in a conversion.

Feels like I've watched 100 videos and done a bunch of research... I'm still nervous about biting off more than I can chew. I've never done plumbing and shouldn't be allowed around wiring.

Insulation of walls/ceiling is essential, if not you will have condensation issues.  Trailers can come with either a thin luann wall, plywood, diamond plate, or bare. Doing it again I would start with no wall covering then after insulating/wiring/windows cover with 1/2" ply.
I did not add any bathroom type stuff. Myself, and hunt partners can still pee in the woods,  :chuckle:, and did not want to take up more space.

Now that I got a cabin in the woods, I'm getting ready to let mine go.  20' with 8' ceiling.  Insulated and wood stove, no issues with moisture.
Economy failure = Too many people spending money they don't have on things they don't need to impress people they don't like.
