Auction Tag Fishing

I already have a fishing license. Should be enough. I don't want to pay for another tag/permit/authorization.

Because some tag holder would take a 40lb King in a Jack only area. He would then proceed to an area open for mature King's to clean the fish.
It would eventually end up in court and his lawyers would argue that WDFW regulations were too vague on what a fish actually is.
The whole thing would be a mess...

I’m really surprised they don’t do a few oil tags for big sturgeon.
I’m not a expert but I think they only produce in a certain size class. Then when they get giant they are done? Someone could probably confirm this or I’m just mistaken. Taking trophy sized fish that don’t breed anymore might generate some $ to go back to fish if they could mange stuff right.

 Sturgeon begin spawning after the slot limit as I understand it, that’s approx the 60” mark.

It's basically a permit fishery now, guaranteed draw.  I need a permit for clams, shrimp, salmon, Puget Sound crab, halibut, probably other things I forget.  Once you hit the salt, there is more paperwork than I can believe.

I think they will have to do something with shrimp in the next few years, particularly from MA8 south.  The season can't get much shorter and be realistic.
