New truck canopy

I am looking for a new truck canopy.  Someplace in Pierce County.  Any brands I should stay away from.  I only know of Canopy World in Fife to check out so far.

There is a guy who advertise on craigs list, is off River Road, I did not buy mine from him, only because he did not have the color that I wanted, I ended up going through Canopy World, took them a week and they found what I was looking for at a Great price. Good Luck

I just bought a brand new leer for a long bed, it was right around 2,300 out the door. I looked for a used one for a long time for my truck, just bit the bullet and bought new.

Looking to buy 1 for my 2019 F250 Diesel.  Priced it out over the internet with literally everything you could think of.  I added the aluminum bed rollout.  $7k... Haven't bought it yet.  The rollout is a must but don't know if I need all the canopy add ons.  Like the lockable storage under the rollout for guns, levels expensive smaller tools, key less entry back window, folding down side windows ect.

I went with LEER and would do it again.  We got the carpet, windoors (tilt out side windows), drop slider front window and the frameless back window.

I added keyless and an auto on switch for the light myself which is fairly easy to do if you have basic electrical skills and can decipher vehicle electrical diagrams and save a ton.  Both are must have in my opinion.

Yeah, they are double the cost you think they should be, but all the brands are around the same price, so go look and see which one you like best.  With Fords and their ever changing weird tailgates, the rear window is the main difference between brands.  I can't remember which one, but one makes a curved glass that you can actually break into easily by sliding your hand up between the window and tailgate and unlocking it - check YouTube.

They all have coupons and sales, you should be able to get something for free - sliding front window, carpet, $150 or whatever.

I shopped around a bunch, the different shops all charge about the same so I went with the one that seemed to have the best operation and felt like they would do the best install.  Some of them resemble Sanford & Sons and I always thought that if they don't take care of their stuff then it wasn't likely they would take care of my stuff.

Check out Superhawk canopy in Marysville, little bit of a drive for you, but I have bought two from them and my dad and brother both have purchased from them as well. No issues to speak of.

Dave's custom canopy in Chehalis. Great guy and honest. Just ordered my 6th Leer from him for 8ft bed on a 2020 Ram.  $2300.

Paying for the auto locking feature synced to my factory Ford fob was the best thing.
The interior LED quit working after about a year.
Wish I had ordered it with the roof rack rails.

Leers are great, very well built. One could say they’re the Toyota of the canopy world

Well the wife decided she wants one of those retractable tonneau covers instead.  I know the dealership offers them. They look nice, but I would be surprised if they all don't have a leaking issue.

I'm hoping I don't have the same feeling about no roof rack rails.

The auto locking is actually tied into the tailgate lock wiring, there isn't a separate receiver to the remote (it locks and unlocks with the tailgate, either on one unlock push or two depending on how you have the rear doors/tailgate set to unlock).  If you have a mechanical locking tailgate, the wiring is right there and easy to tap into.  If you have a fully electric tailgate, I think you need to run a wire up and grab the rear door locking wiring in the cab as the tailgate doesn't actually lock on those the same way as it does on the mechanical ones.

It's not simple to wire, but doable if you are inclined to such things and can find and read a wiring diagram.  Either way, I agree it's a must have.  Same with the auto on light, just pop the rear glass open and the light comes on without needing an extra hand and searching for the button.  On my LEER, the button is hard to reach and I'm 6'4" with no lift on the truck.
