Richards will be a much better stock than the boyds. Considering I have had Boyds stocks bust when using rimfires, I will never buy from them again. They do have excellent service, however. With the Richards you have to either be prepared to have about 20 hours finish time into it or spend the money on a finished stock. The wait time for Richards is about 4 months. The boyds probably has no wait time.
Another option I prefer is Sharp Shooter Supply. Their quality and service is top notch. Just make sure you call and get a final time the parts. They are quite busy, for a reason. But be careful, you can spend a TON of money there. I am getting the money together to send my Stevens 200 into them for a complete work over.

what year is your savage? the older savages only came with a long action so short action and long action bullets were shot in the 110 action. Then savage began making seperate 10 (short action) and 110 (long action) specific calibers. read what is stamped on your barrel and buy accordingly... also there are ways to tell from measuring the distance between the action screws. Long action is over 5", short is less than 5" apart... i can't remember the exact measurements but they can be found online. try

if it's a .243 it's a model 10. if you get a stock for a model 110 it will not fit.
10 is short action, 110 is long action.

They also made a 110 in .243... like posted above, Savage used to run all their rounds on a long action... they just used a bolt stop to adjust for the lenght of the cartridge.

The man said it was a 110
Just because he bought it in 2000... doesn't mean that's when it was made. I once bought a Rem. 700 classic .220 Swift, off the shelf at Yeager's in Bellingham, that was about 4 years old. It happens more often than you'd think.
