Bearpaw Season - Spring 2021

Spring is here, time for new updates. It’s been a crazy busy year thus far, we are remodeling our place in Idaho so that we have nicer accommodations. Doing all of the work ourselves so that’s the reason I haven’t been online much. The house had a flat roof and was built in 1936, we tore off the old front entry, built a larger front entry, added a pitch roof, and we are remodeling the upstairrs. (I had already remodeled the downstairs a few years ago). It’s been interesting working between hunts and between snow and rain storms.

Got the birds blocked out for the summer, also well along on the interior work, old kitchen removed and replaced, old crumbling chimney gone, new open floor plan in progress...

Took a break from interior remodeling and give the barn a remodel, it was/is a challenge to make an old leaning Barn square again! Is turkey season ever coming?

Finally the youth turkey hunt, wow, some fun times! First day 6 birds down, all the kids filled their tags!

We had a week in between that we did more remodeling then we got started on the general turkey season, the hunters got six birds the first day.

We’ve continued to have great success, the last group all filled out the first day, some of them shot a few ground sguirels too! Now we are waiting for the next hunters to arrive.

Sorry about the phone posting some of the photos upside down, sometime I'll try to straighten them out, just wanted to provide a quick update on what we've been up to so far this year.

In between all the remodeling and hunting I’ve managed to get most of my food plots in.  Too funny, while I was still plowing this one two hens were picking worms and a tom is following them!

Yeah we got a good start on the birds, still no bear sign though, we've got a lot of our baits out in Idaho already and none are getting any bear yet. This warm weather should get them out soon though?

Too funny, the hunters are over at another property hunting and these Tom’s are in front of their cabin parading around their truck!

Guide Ray with a dandy Merriam’s that his hunter nailed first thing this morning! Bird called into 52 yards and wouldn’t come any closer so Brian put the hammer down and put this pretty bird down!

Courtney got the largest diameter spurs I think I’ve ever seen, these spurs are almost as big around as your finger!
