There have been grizz in that unit for years. My dad saw one, I've seen two, and a warden told me that he saw five at one time in a field in the spring one year when he was checking out a report.

Good on ya!

I know there's guys with *a lot* more encounters that I on here, my closest encounter is meeting one on a corner in a road with blowdown so thick it'd be nearly impossible to get off the road and go around.

He roared super loud (I mean LOUD AF) and buggered out, but I didn't know if he was still there or not, I had no choice but go and see.

I didn't see him, think he got my wind.

I hunted his bedroom area for a few days, took hair off his scratching/territorial posts, he didn't seem to roam all that far really, figured he'd be 30 miles away, but I kept running into fresh sign.

Elk hunting sucked there, so we moved on lol

I've seen plenty off in the distance, but that was my closest encounter while not in a vehicle.

Now that is a close encounter!

First bear I seen there last year was a grizzly.  It was by my camp. Seen wired trucks several times like they were watching it.

They’ve been here a very very long time.  Nothing new to NE wa.   Maybe new to Kelly area?
