New muzzle brake/Compensator ???
« on: May 21, 2021, 03:47:31 PM »
I just got my new muzzle brake/Compensator in the mail today and the exit diameter measures.3705 for a 7.625/.308 muzzle brake.

Is that a little bigger than it should be for effective recoil reduction?

The brake is a Precision Armament,It is a severe duty Compensator7.62/.308. Part number A04020.

        Thanks

.020-.030 over is standard and that brake says works for 338 Lapua too so really its only .040 over.

I read some study at one point that said brakes start losing effectiveness at 40 thou over. That one is 60 thou over but I bet it works just fine.

I have shot 30 cal brakes on my 6mms and couldnt tell a difference. Screw it on and dont overthink it. Brake design has much more impact than bore size.  :twocents:

I have actually started using 6.5 mm brakes on my 6mm as i have had issue with powder or carbon peening baffles enough to impact accuracy.
