Release chewing through loops

My dual caliper release is chewing through loops. Its a tru-fire extreme. I had a similar tru-fire that did the same. Loop wear begins to show at 30 or so shots and from there it progresses quickly. Anyone else have this problem? Is it an issue with dual calipers in general or just certain ones? Thinking about trying a hook style release. Just looking for advice and recommendations to avoid this. Replacing the loop every few weeks is becoming a pain. I just got back into archery 2 years ago after a 10 year break and I didn't have this problem in the past. I don't remember which release I used in the past but I think it was also a dual caliper without any issues.

I haven't, or heard of it happening.

30 shots seems like you might have a burr or sharp edge on your calipers. Maybe try smoothing them out.

And what type of dloop are you using?

My dloops generally last a year and lots of shooting.

It has been happening with 2 different releases, with both the factory loop and the loops I have replaced. I'm not sure what the original loop was and don't recall what brand I am using, but 2 different tru-fire releases destroying what looks to be to 2 different brand loops seems very odd. At this point, I'm thinking about trying a different brand or style of release instead of going to a third loop material. I didn't replace my previous bows loop in the 2 years I owned it

Mine was doing the same except not in 30 shots

I switched to a Carter release and have had zero signs of premature wear on my loop.

I had this problem with a particular kind of D loop material. I switched to BCY Release Rope .80 Diameter and havent had an issue since.

I had the same issue with a tru fire caliper release, although it didn’t happen in 30 shots.  I couldn’t find the burr and polishing the release didn’t help.  Switched to the hook style tru fire and no issues since.

Thanks for the input, guys. I ordered a TruBall Beast XT hybrid hook release. I have been wanting to try a hook style anyways and it has 3 different ways to set the trigger angle which I wouldn't mind experimenting with. I will just keep the Tru-Fire as a backup and will probably contact them to see what they say. If the loop issue continues, maybe I will see if there is a brand called Tru-Loop. Third time is a charm.

Like Schmaker, I had a caliper Tru fire and it would prematurely wear the loop. Went through 2 releases, tried sanding/polishing them. Switched to a hook and have almost no wear to the loop, and shoot better too!

usually this happens on releases that are a spring close..... When you let go of the trigger the jaws close. The releases that manually close don't have this issue.
