The Biden administration and Backcountry Hunters and Anglers supports this train wreck of a human.  Be very careful who you support as it pertains to the sport(s) we all love.  Some are wolves in sheep’s clothing.

From article:

Sen. Jim Risch, R-Idaho, told Fox News in an email Thursday that anyone familiar with the "eco-terrorist practice" of tree-spiking does not consider Stone-Manning "exceptionally qualified."

"When Idahoans hear someone who conspired with tree spikers is the administration’s pick to lead the largest land management agency in America, they are rightfully appalled. Conspiring with tree spikers is not a mistake," Risch said. "A mistake is opening the sock drawer in the morning and pulling out two socks that don’t match. When you knowingly, willfully, intentionally, with malice and forethought, attempt to take someone else’s life – that’s not a mistake."

I’m not sure sending a letter on someone else’s behalf makes her a terrorist.

Kind of like a pendulum swings.  Trump appointed Pendley, who was a total clown and didn't know anything about wildlife or habitat (an expert in extraction though!) now we have Stone-Manning that isn't really ideal for an agency that's been mired in controversy since the BS in Bunkerville.

I forgive her for her part in the timber wars.  That was 30 years ago... it's probably time to let go of that.  I'm pleased that she's a hunter and has spent decades hunting and recreating in the west.

It was probably forgivable 20 years ago....she was an undergrad at UM when all this went down in the late 80's... she's not exactly an eco terrorist.

I still see spiked trees in Idaho forests, came across a bunch last year in a patch of trees in a logged area, I was like why did tbey leave those trees standing?  Got closer seen big spikes sticking out the tree 20 feet up and lower.

Scary, I have not seen them but have a pile of buddies that feed their families by working in the woods and have probably encountered it.  Luckily, most logging is mechanized now and it wouldn't be as likely to injure anyone.  Equipment repairs would be costly though

Speaking as a retired logger I doubt there was ever much danger to loggers from spiked trees. The real danger was presented in the mill when a saw blade or chipper head came into contact with a spike.

:yeah:  Exactly, that has happened in the mills and it's not good on equipment, and potentially very dangerous for anyone nearby.

Anyone pounding spikes in trees is a idiot and not a environmentalist.
Hopefully more people will come forward and testify.
I don’t know anything about this lady, but be careful what you wish for because the next nominee could be worse.

Testify to what??  This was over thirty years ago.  This is just due diligence and folks looking for dirt on an appointee

I don't give her a pass for spiking trees

I don't give Chipman a pass for WACO

I don't give Garland a pass for his "decisions"

With so many well qualified people, I expect the best, not these people with baggage.

And I don't care right or left, nominees should be spotless
