Pimp My Aquapod
« on: July 05, 2021, 09:29:45 AM »
Just bought an old used 8-foot aquapod to play around with this season. I'd like to add some bungee cord for brush straps over basically the whole thing. Any tips from you fiberglass experts out there on the best way to do that? Or other modification tips from aquapod/kayak hunters out there?

Also thinking about buying a reclining seat for this thing if anyone knows of good options. Thanks!!

Fiberglass supply in Burlington has all the glass supplies you need.  I say cleats seat bungie and some cattail matts are in your future.

Get a kayak life jacket that doesn’t have padding on the front shoulders

Sweet! Hadn't heard of that shop before. Just checked out their website and it looks great. I'll be hitting them up.

They have a you tube channel with some tutorials, and they used to have a monthly in shop demo on different methods/ techniques

Paddle leash and shotgun leash are a big one for me. Paddle leash is great if you are hoping to do some jump shooting. Allows you to just drop the paddle and quickly grab the gun.

You could cut 2 reinforcement bracket/gusset that have holders for your shotgun and paddle. You could make the pattern out of card board then cut and glass in.

Thanks! I was just thinking about that last night. What paddle length do you recommend? I was paddling around in mine last weekend and the kayak paddle I have was too short. Kept bumping the sides cause the 'pod is so wide.

I'm intrigued by this. Would this holder design sit above the cockpit or below it? Trying to picture how it would work. Thanks!

Under. When the Washington Waterfowl Association did a boat build several years ago the included something like this in the construction.  Glass and some 1/4" plywood would work great. Make it a little big and wrap the holding edge with some old rubber hose
