Trout Farm for kids?
« on: April 28, 2009, 06:31:48 PM »
Anybody know where one is? I've got a 2 year old with a short attention span, I'm dead set on getting him into some trout this year. When I was little my dad took me to a "trout farm", an easy way to guarantee consistent action. Anything like that out there? I'm willing to travel.

They have a place out in Spanaway off of HWY 7 at about 265th I believe. Jim's U-Fish if I recall. They have a couple stocked ponds and animals for the kids to look at and pet (goats rabbits pigs ect). A little picnic area and toys for them to play with also. A little hiking trail. There is a bunch of stuff to do for the kids. I took mine there when they were about 2. They were scared of the fish but enjoyed the animals and the play area.. trout were 10 to 16 inches

You should also check out the kids ponds that wdfw stock.  Teacherman took my granddaughter to one on saturday and she had a blast.  About 30 fish on before she managed to get her limit but it was hard to get the grin off of her face.  The pond is in Springdale Wa but i'm sure there are some all over the state.  There are pics in the fishin section.
I've slowed down enough in my old age to finally let the game catch up to me

those ponds right along I-5 up there by smokey point are loaded with fish and i think 1 of them is kids only. there's lots of public lakes with tons and tons of fish in them right now...check the regs and there's a few here and there that are youth only. better atmosphere than a u-fish.
