Wife’s buck!

So if you have been following along on the elk thread we have had a season for sure. I drew a colockum bull tag, she drew a cow tag for umtanum and my uncle drew a cow tag. Anyways we were able to fill all those and we were into her Entiat tag. We went for a couple days last weekend and saw 60+ bucks… but nothing great. We have been in the woods since October 14th and we are exhausted. My wife labeled me the “warden” because I kept on telling her nope not the one… she passed a bunch early and was ready to shoot a spike by the end of the trip! We saw a great 4x3 with eye guards two days in a row.. Anyways… no tag filled and I reminded her she may be 60 before she draws the tag again. Our two kids had school and conferences so we came home for a couple days. We headed back up Wednesday and got up there around dark. Thankfully my uncle watched the kids for us. So we set out Thursday morning.. we see a couple small bucks early and now I’m worried. Weekend before we saw deer all over… not so much this trip… she going to kill me!! We then see a good buck… thank god! He works into some brush and my wife decides to lay down… I’m like “what r u doing?!” But she had a focus… I walk another 30 yards knowing I’ll push the deer out… they work out and I know at this point I’m not with her and the decision is in her lap… the buck follows and I know he’s a good one.. maybe not the biggest but he’s a great deer… I actually plugged my ears knowing there was no question in her mind! I’m very proud of her for sticking it out! One shot and done!! She shot it with a load that had my dads ashes in. Makes it even more special! Our big game season is officially over! (Now duck season) 😜

For those that didn’t read the elk thread.. my dad was something special.. my teacher and my my best friend for sure. He got diagnosed with terminal cancer Apr 20th … had already put in for tags and drew the colockum tag that I did this year. We tried to get him a terminal tag one last time but he passed July 3rd 2020. The button on my wife’s vest is a picture of him. Bittersweet for sure!
