Cougar Sightings
« on: December 02, 2021, 02:53:07 PM »
What areas are still open. I would be willing to go look for one over in the Swakane during Christmas/ New Years. Who has seen them and what area.

First thing is to look here....

https://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/regulations/big-game/cougar

Looks like all open now, after January 1 ,some may close.

So don't take some guys word on the internet, click on link and check your gmu for yourself.

You can also go here and see where people reported sightings or whatever. It's gonna be mostly private property.
I'm sure it's not really a tool they give for hunting.
But it is interesting to take a look.

Go into swakane canyon past the orchard and houses, past the shooting pit and past the next house on the left.  You will come to a parking area at the bottom of a gated off road, rattlesnake road.  Hike up that road to the upper gate that is in the national forest and there are cougar tracks all over.  You can also drive up Mills Canyon road to the same spot, roads can be tricky so bring chains.  Once you get up in elevation just look for fresh tracks in the snow.  Hopefully by the end of december there will be some snow.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.
