Bow Strings, Is stock ok when new?

Looking for opinions, are new stock Bowtech strings ok? Would you replace immediatly with better ones? What makes custom better?

I'd stick with the stock string and cables for a couple years, or maybe 20,000 shots, whichever comes first.  Custom strings are built with attention to detail that a machine-built string can't match.  This creates the opportunity, but not the guarantee, to get a string that stretches less, has less twisting when drawing, and the servings may last longer.  I've had custom strings perform far worse than stock strings, but generally custom is a bit better than stock; it's not a big enough difference to throw away a brand new string that you paid probably $75-100 for with the new bow, however.

Hopefully xXx will chime in here and give his input, since he makes custom strings.

It's very hard to beat a stock bowtech string they are great.If it was a pse,or hoyt i would change it

Personally I never leave stock on my bow, thats the first thing to go when I get any new bow, IMO the difference is more then enough to warrant that extra $$ the shop I shoot for also makes some great custom stuff.. its awesome.. and as much as i hate to say it the fuse stuff that comes on the hoyts.. IMO is not that great

Just say that you put glue on your string that'll get xXx to chime in   I do almost the same thing as Hoyt except I usually shoot the stock string for a week or so to break it in, then switch to winners choice. Breaking the stock one in then removing it gives me a back up set ready to go in case something happens in the sticks I'll have something I can continue my hunt with.

Didn't have any problem with my stock bowtech string, but I switched it out anyways for a winners choice string. Got a back up string and cables, plus a good string and cables on my bow. I didn't want to take any chances. I had a reflex compound before i bought my bowtech and that string really stretched. Never could get consistent peep alignment, so I ended up putting custom string and cable on that and it was fine.

Thanks guys. Sounds like the Bowtech's are great. Guess If I bought a Hoyt Id change em.

Ill keep the not so good strings over bowtechs limbs anyday         but I would change them.... no serious target archer/bowhunter I know has stock cables/strings.. there is a reason for that

By the way,  Bowtech stock strings are the same material as winner's choice and all the other after market strings,  and are awesome.  However, I am not a staff shooter.....    Just kidding here,  now can't we all just get along?
