I was leaning towards a 20" CF wrapped barrel, to help keep it rigid. Anything shorter than 16" is going to require a second stamp, and I really don't wanna go down that rabbit hole. As far as type of hunting, its everything from dense Western WA, to open country Mulies in Eastern MT. @MooseZ25 what kind of velocity are you getting out of your 6.5? Curious what the FPS loss with a 20"?
Curious how many of you hunt suppressed, and what cartridge and barrel length you run with your can. I have one can now, and a second on the way. My kids are starting to hunt more and more, so thought I would start moving more this direction. One of my biggest concerns with the rifles I have now is 24"-26" barrels. Put a 6" or 7" can on the end of that, you're getting pretty long. Working on a 20" 7 SAUM, but curious what you guys have used, or are using.
This thread has sent me down a rabbit hole that I need to get out of. Currently, my 7" TBAC Ultra Gen 2 is in jail and should be out any day now (10 months post tax stamp hit). I was planning on hunting with it on my Christensen Ridgeline .300 wsm which is 24" + 7" = 30"-31" of barrel after it is threaded on. I found the following article extremely interesting to read about barrel lengths and the 300 win mag. I was planning on building a 300 blackout of some sort once I got my can to shoot subsonic suppressed with because why the heck not? Now I'm thinking maybe build a hunting specific rifle with a 16.25" barrel in .308 win.https://rifleshooter.com/2013/12/300-winchester-magnum-how-does-barrel-length-change-velocity-a-16-300-win-mag/

I went with the Gunwerks Six, when Silencer Shop was offering a free stamp (I'm a sucker for a "good deal"). Interesting article. I have seen similar ones on the 6.5 Creed, but never one on a 30 cal magnum. Another really good resource for this conversation is episode #128 of teh Backcountry Hunting Podcast. Its by far my favorite podcast, and he dives pretty deep into it, and breaks down a few calibers.
Looks like I’ll be putting in for a Dead Air Nomad Ti pretty soon. ATF will be rolling out the Efile program before the end of the month making the application process faster. Gotta try and get mine before next season.

Bought a Tikka at Sportsman's Warehouse Wed. because they were on sale. Ya, thanks Karl! I don't really even know Karl but I blame everything Tikka related on him.
