Grew up listening to it out in the fish house. Sounds creepy if you have never hear it before. I grew up on yhe 5th largest lake in MN. We would get up 3 plus feet of solid ice. We didn't run hand augers most of ours were powered. We did catch eel pout all the time. What you call burbot. So my question for you all. Do you not use live bait. Usually we throw a minnow with a spinner on and slay the walleyes. Catch burbot with thay to.Sent from my SM-G998U using TapatalkI believe Washington state says we can’t use live minnows

Lake Vermillion has more shore line than California, New York and Hawaii combined. Over 1200 miles. It would completely freeze over. Sometimes the ice would not come off fully until May somw years. Never fished it in the winter, but sure loved our time up there in the summer.

Don't have regs in front of me at present.I know growing up we always would stop and get 3 dz just before heading out to the ice.
