Boys and their toys 😉
« on: January 07, 2022, 03:51:13 PM »
Right before Thanksgiving I found a new toy.  I have been pitching nickles for a while about buying one.
Back in September we had a scare and I was not sure I wanted to spend the money.  My wife said that we can't live our lives that way.  So with her blessing I now have a honda pioneer 1000-5.
My intentions are to use it trapping. Being the enemy of good.  If something is working, by goodness I'm going to try and make it better.
Got it to the house and started to look for improvements.  Well side curtains are a aftermarket upgrade and they are soft side.  The least expensive set was 500.00.  Since I am in possession of a commercial sewing machine and over 25 yards of black courdora.

Looks pretty darned good and should keep the heat in the cab and drafts out, should be pretty darned comfortable riding along when temps in the teens

That is awesome!!

I have the same machine and was out plowing this week....I told the wife we need to enclose the back so the snow stops swirling around and covering the occupants.  Now if only I had the talent to sew... :chuckle:  I'm gonna be stuck paying the man and buying a mass production set up.   :bash: :bash:

I could have cut clear windows for it, but if I'm hauling traps don't really need to advertise what I am doing.

On a side note it was staying comfortable with the heat coming up from the engine. Not like a car, but was tolerable.

Like you said, a nice change up/ upgrade for the little red machine.  Very practical and fun to boot.

Looks like.the little red rig won't be going for a ride across the rocks any time soon.  No end in sight for the white stuff.
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

Glad you finally found a sxs.  Are you going to put a set of tracks on it?  Should get around real good with tracks, this would be the winter.

Jrebel  there were a couple of machines on Craigslist around Spokane and Moses lake today. Just speak nicely to your wife, perhaps she would give you some pointer to get you started. My wife says my machine scares her!! If you step down on it you can get up to 5k stitches a minute. It evens makes me a bit shy of the pedal. I think I will be changing out to Servo Still have the speed but you can set the motor to a slower rate so you do a little more precise finish work.

This will sew 5 layers of canvas or a couple of layers of leather.

That cover is great.
