Loon Lake fishing guide

Hey everyone.  I am looking for a good fishing guide for the Loon lake Kokanee season and wanted to see if anybody here had recommendations.  Thanks!

I don't know about any guides for Loon lake, but it is a very easy fishery?
Do you have a boat, if so just troll around using basic Kokanee gear. You might even snag into a brute of a bass while Kokanee fishing.

Last time I fished Loon Lake I thought it was fairly easy. Sure was pretty! I was trolling using electric only. All the pink flowers were in bloom and the water was so smooth it looked like a mirror. Got a pic ‘someplace’ of a Loon (go figure!) on the water with all the reflections.

In May and June of 2020 there was 85,000 Kokanee fry released. That is about the normal number of fish released. Out from Granite point in 28 feet of water is where you can find them. Just look for the look for the Neon Palm trees. When it is on fire you should be able to walk across the boats. But if you do choose to night fish them, make sure you bring some cold weather gear. If you, don't it will be the coldest evening you will spend in June.

If you do launch from the public launch either have a gps on you boat or make sure the light is working at the launch. It's a long way back in the dark. then trying to hit the dock in pitch black isn't any treat.

One plus is the limit is 10 and after midnite starts a new day. If it is good you can come off the lake with 20 fish.

The hook in its face does look like a double hook set up perhaps from a wally bottom walker rig. But people fish lots of non-standard gear that works.
Yes the background doesn't look like anything I remember on loon.

Thanks for the info. guys.  I am in between boats right now and was hoping to learn the fishery for next year when I hope to have a boat again but will look in to the rental idea.

Actually you are correct! The 6.8 pounder was from Palmer lake (we were staying at Spectacle lake), the 8.7 pounder (attached) was from Loon Lake.

What you are seeing (in the first pic) is the trail hook on a Double Whammy.

Thanks for the info. guys.  I am in between boats right now and was hoping to learn the fishery for next year when I hope to have a boat again but will look in to the rental idea.

I have a PortABote 12’, which folds down for transport and has been used in Loon, plus a lot of others on the East side, if you are interested. Price would depend on what all you wanted with it.

Thanks, they are the only two Large Mouth I have caught, one trolling for Kokes, the other trolling for Rainbows, both on Double Whammys with a nighcrawler trailer.
