Beretta choke tubes
« on: February 23, 2022, 11:52:21 AM »
I have a Beretta Silver Pigeon shotgun and I noticed that some of the choke tubes say no steel and others say steel ok. What makes a choke tube incompatible with steel shot? I hold one of each in my hand & can’t see a difference between them. Do you think it would be ok to shoot a non toxic other than steel through them? A couple places I like to hunt pheasant require non toxic shot because the USFWS has done a lot of work for waterfowl habitat. Or should I be looking for after market choke tubes?

In most cases you can shoot non-toxic shot thru your chokes. Steel doesn't deform going thru the choke like lead does, you can use steel up to MOD unless it's marked not for steel so no full. I shoot steel with my Beretta IC that equals a MOD in lead. If shooting steel get aftermarket steel safe tubes.  :twocents:
