Scary bear encounter
« on: May 10, 2009, 07:55:40 PM »
I had a Black bear stalk within about 30ft of me this morning!!
I was moving one of the Game cameras and was in the process of bolting the bear box to a tree, when my dogs who were just laying there, both let out a huge GROWLLL and Charged this bear, who had snuck up on me!! scared the living *censored* out of me!! :yike: Friggen glad I had the dogs....

I don't think the bear ment any harm, probably just curious??

my uncle was a hunting guide in Alaska, mostly big browns and grizzly. he had one stalk him as he was approaching a kill. he said he just "felt" something. he swung around and there was a 9 foot brown bear about 5 yards behind him stopped in mid stride. he killed it off his hip with a 375, said if that bear wouldn't have stopped in mid stride like that "it woulda ate me"

It is eerie, how quiet something that big can be going thru the woods.  Glad the dogs warned you.  Hope you carry a sidearm with you, if not before, then from now on.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

I'm learning late in life how addicting bear hunting can be.  I've said it before but a hunter who trys bears will never be the same.
