maine whitetail
« on: November 13, 2007, 11:38:54 AM »
my dad just e-mailed me this pic of a giant whitetail his buddy harvested near bangor, maine. he's a 6x6, or as the northeasterners call them, a 12 pointer.
they know how to grow them there.

Thats one big bodied whitetail...dont know anything about the deer over there but that is a big one...Just a question whats the reasoning behind hanging deer from their head? Do they do that to skin em? Sure seems alot easier to do it the other way but i have never done it like that...Justin

i think some people do it one way, others another. i do it the other way too usually. this year one of the old guys killed a doe and we hung her up by the neck. it was real easy skinning that deer that way. a lot easier than by the hind legs i thought. i migh have to try it again a time or 2 to be convinced, i don't know...but it almost seemed easier for me.
