PSA ** Beckler River Road washout - allegedly fixed usfs skykomish district

I'm talking about the Beckler River road proper, NOT INDEX GALENA ROAD.

about .3 miles down there is a major road washout that is impassible to all vehicles. Dont know how long its been there, probably happened during one of the flood events this winter.  ONX indicates that the segment of road that is washed out belongs to a private individual, but I'm sure there are easment laws involved with some public agencies... Hoping it gets fixed before summer kicks off.

Cant find any information online about the washout yet.

WTA.org sent out a notice a month or so ago about it. At that time it was undetermined when a repair would be done. Doesn't sound like it's changed.

The bunny huggers are going to get their wish.....they have wanted to turn the entire area back into a "wilderness" for decades.  My guess is...it will never get fixed.  The Index Galena Road washed out 10-15 years ago with not plan to ever fix it.  Dang crying shame.....now where are all the meth heads going to dump their garbage and have hidden meth labs.

Update. Lady from the skykomish ranger district said they have repaired it and it may be open as early as tomorrow

Yeah they would fix it becaue there is both a RAWS station up there and a repeater and neither have lz's for helo's to fly into either.

Yeah Index Galena Rd has taken a ridiculously  long time. It's scheduled to reopen next year though.
