Snohomish county property management
« on: April 08, 2022, 10:36:43 PM »
Does anyone know if it’s actually legal to hunt the islands in the snohomish estuary/ delta east of I-5 below Marysville. I see that they are owned by snohomish county property management and I’ve seen guys hunt them. But I also see it marked on the no shooting map as Undeveloped park. However, smith island is marked the same way and it’s legal to hunt there. It’s just odd to me that all these different snohomish county properties across the county along various rivers are all marked in mustard green as no shooting undeveloped park,  when there isn’t anything that should make it dangerous to hunt there.

County no shooting areas are different county to county, some let you shoot if you are hunting. However, in Snohomish County you can't discharge a firearm for hunting purposes in a county no shooting area. Additionally, it is unlawful to discharge a firearm on Snohomish County park land. Also, under the Snohomish County code any county lands identified as "undeveloped parks" are closed to public access.

Just because you've seen someone do it, doesn't mean it's legal.

I recomend you join Washington Waterfowl Association. Either the NW or Seattle chapter. I know several people from the nw chapter that hunt that area. We had a cleanup in that general area and I'm sure you could have had all your questions answered.
