Montana elk unit 455
« on: April 15, 2022, 09:20:53 AM »
Anybody hunted elk or even deer in this unit? Its pretty small but has limited roads which sounded like fun. I have read that a lot of guys hunt it with horses/mules because it is remote but I am considering llamas unless I can talk a friend of ours into coming so we can use her mules.

It's pretty much a horse hunter's game.  There will be man trailers at the trailhead, if you have one you can get up high and glass the big basins.

Like most places, pressure tends to push the animals onto private refuges.

It would be a long pull on foot.  It's very high on scenery points though.
