Exo users, attaching camelback
« on: April 25, 2022, 12:53:56 PM »
I don't much like the exo velcro waterbladder hanger, eventually velcro looses its sticky, frays and gives up.

Also, it's a single attachment point that doesn't work with camelback which has two prongs

Y'all done something different or am I doing it wrong?

This is my old slide lock bag which attaches like this.

That junk bag has failed on me, leaked all down my back, etc.

How I'm gonna roll for now  :chuckle:

Nice thing is it just clips on and off now, the 550 cord snaps inside the prongs and isn't gonna slip out.

KF, try a small, lightweight carabiner. Your 550 cord loop is good, and necessary with the open end camelback style. Carabiner goes on the Exo Velcro straps and bladder loop clicks into the carabiner.

Surprised you've had difficulties with it. I just use the velcro loop no prob like pictured in your original post but mine is centered. Have had no problems at all.

Ah, my camelback bladder has a single hook, not the double. Didn't notice that. Just one long hook. I think your fix is fully functional.

For the record, I think the velcro strap is excellent for my needs. No issues. I don't even budge the strap, just push the hook through the loop.

I run a carabiner to hold my water bladder in mine. Though I use a platypus bladder or MSR dromlite bag which both have a loop to attach a carabiner too.

My Velcro tab works just fine but if I’m going to put a rifle on one side of the pack I throw the bladder in the spotting scope pocket on the other side and use a small carabiner to hang it in there

I use buckles, attaching the female on all my packs and then a male on my water bag and I can move it all around easily without detaching any velcro, cords or whatever.

I use Source military version, not Camelback, but same idea.
