Alta quality buck muzzle loader
« on: June 15, 2022, 10:40:41 AM »
Snagged Alta quality buck. Should be a good time one way or the other. Only took 13 years to draw a tag for a 5 day hunt.  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Good luck to all who drew.

Good luck! Should be a great time.

Congrats! Great tag, the fog can be a real issue if it’s moist out!

Buddies kid drew a late whitetail tag in Alta. Any tips on whitetail appreciated.

drew this same tag in 2019. if the weather holds to what it was then you will see rut activity all day. my dad had a doe tag for that unit and helped me scout it out during modern rife. didn't see much, just a few small bucks and a few does. when the weather hit and layed down a foot of snow that all changed. my wife and i hunted that unit five days. counting 40+ deer a day and seeing 3 very nice shooters. one was taken by a father and son. beautiful 4x4 and we got to watch the whole thing play out. i ended up taking a 3x4 that i had seen two nights previous. prey for snow and be able to put chains on. sure there are deer right at snow line but the big ones seem to always be higher.

I believe there is a long time member on here who had that tag last year or the year before. May want to search for that thread or pick his brain.
