cowiche bull tag
« on: July 18, 2022, 03:00:55 PM »
I drew a Cowiche bull tag. I had this tag 10 years ago but haven't hunted that area since then. I don't know what a realistic expectation is now. I'd like to get some feed back on what type of bulls might be there now.
There are only 5 bull tags this year and I would love to hold out for a 300 inch plus bull. This will probably be my last bull tag in WA as I'll be 72 yrs old this July. Will do some scouting trips in late Aug and early Sept.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Robert

My brother Drew the archery tag last fall we had a great hunt in bulls everyday, he ended the season with a great 6x6
I don't always shoot big mule deer, but when I do, it's with a bow tech!

Realistic expectations are same as 10 years ago . 300 and bigger is doable in the area . Not going to find them right off the road though.

There were tons of elk at the feeding station this year and on a few occasions there were large groups of bulls standing apart from the herd. I'm talking 15-20 bulls and most were mature.

Due to previous fires I think a lot of elk moved on the other side of the hwy and the feeding station has a ton this winter, lot of them that were migrating to Oak Creek in the past are over there. Good time to have a Rimrock or Cowiche tag?  I hope so :)

I had the archery tag last year, shoot me a message if you want any pointers. Overall it’s a great unit, roads are good, lots of camping available
