are these cameras on your guy's private land or are they on public land? if they are on public land do you just leave them out there for months at a time?

A mix of both for me and I leave mine up year round unless they are going to get covered up by snow then I pull them.

Got this buck on camera a few times, this is the last real good shot I have of him. The camera is in a little spot of public I had to cross a river to get to and I hadn’t been able to get in there since mid May due to high flows. At some point shortly after this photo a vine climbed up the tree and conveniently blocked my trail camera. Might try to sit this area in a stand a few times in September and see what that buck turned into

My pic was taken with a canon 5R but I do have trail cams I leave out monthscat a time too.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Here’s a couple from one of my cams up in the mountains, nothing special but it’s also more of a transitory area so I expect some better bucks will show up come October. Apparently the elk up there don’t like trail cameras as they chewed through the strap on this cam about 2 weeks after it was placed and the other cam the day after it was placed
