Deer pop.
« on: September 16, 2022, 06:31:30 AM »
Now that we’ve had people out in the field actually hunting, how have deer populations looked compared to last year.  I’ve seen quite a few more deer in town (south of spokane valley) and scouting have seen more including antlers.  Hoping disease and weather treated them better.

The populations shouldn't look a whole lot different unless your counting fawns.
It takes several years to recover. :dunno:
I agree though, I too have seen a few more deer than last year and they seem healthier.  I spend alot of time farming and seems to me this years fawn numbers are down, in fact, we didnt even hit one with the swather this year.   :chuckle:

Haven't seen nearly the deer I'm use to in 101 and I'm in the woods 3 or 4 times a week at least :dunno:.

I’m in extreme south 117.  Very low deer numbers here.   Last night I saw the first doe on my land since early July.  She has no fawn.  In July I also saw one buck.  Few years ago I had dozens of deer every day in my food plot, family field and such.  We had a bad drought for few years, blue tongue and a bad winter here last year.  We still have some deer around but numbers are way low.  Not sure I even feel comfortable harvesting a deer in this area this year.  Hopefully there are better numbers in other areas.   I know the predators ate good last year with all the bones I’ve found this year.

The few deer I have seen look healthy
