Here's a blacktip I caught a month or two ago. Since we get fined $10,000 for messing with iguanas and the base game warden won't let us hunt banana rats, sharks are next on the list. Of course there's snapper, grouper, mackerel and all sorts of other fish, but sharks are so much more of a rush than a 5lb snapper.
This old girl was taken with a Penn battle stick, 100lb braided line with a stainless 80lb cable leader, a balloon for a float and a snapper head for bait. This girl was a screamer, she took about a hundred yards of line before I could get her turned around, then it took 47 minutes to land her.
When we got her to the marina and cleaned her we found 7 babies, each about a foot long. We cut them out and let 'em go, they all swam away and are now stock for the next poor souls that get stationed here in hell.
She "tipped" the scales at 92lbs and measured 5'6". The jaws are going to hang on my lovely wifes wall.
