Do you think they will be rutting for late modern rifle in 407?
Some will but not like in the next week and 1/2

I'm baffled.  Every year is different.  I got a solid 3 pt appearance (plus some doe) in early afternoon  on Oct 31st in my back yard (Stella).  I was hunting that day in Mason where nothing was moving at all.  I've never in sixteen years here seen a buck at daylight here nor captured a good buck on cam at daylight here until somewhere around Nov. 11 - 12.  Even them, usually that is a single apearance then the buck is gone for good.  I got more serious about putting out cams and since that time, I've had maybe one or two doe and zero bucks during daylight.   That 3 pt. buck has not returned at night either, but a lesser 3 pt is  under the apple trees nearly every night.  Normally, deer are getting hit by cars almost daily nearby.  I' haven't seen one yet this year.  All-in-all, all is very slow  I'm still seeing doe with fawns around my kid's school.  Hmmmmm

My son shot this thick bodied buck Sunday cruising for does. We also saw a big cougar but couldn’t get a shot.

Love the massive double eye guards on his right side.  That bucks got a lot of age to him too.

Another buck with many years behind him.  Love the knurling on the bases.

Saturday was an exciting day for activities and it seemed entirely related to the wind storm the night before.. lots of food on the ground might have affected what I saw but it was pretty epic.. ended up driving around remote residential areas looking for more deer.  Started with bucks thrashing vine maples near does, fresh rubs on alders bordering roads. big tired buck breathing hard  bedded and multiple cases of does crossing roads and waiting 30 seconds to be followed by bucks. 1 decent 3x3 bunch of forks and spikes. Total between 8 am and 12 was 25 does and 7 different bucks all within a few mile stretch up on a ridge.. never seen anything like it before but the area got hot quick

Saturday night while packing out my sons buck I saw a bunch of deer together in an alder grove. They didn’t spook one bit and I’m sure there was a decent buck in there. Easily 6-7 deer if not more all hanging out

SW Washington out my office window while on a work call.  I would say the rut is full on right now.
pic where buck is looking off to the right is where my wife was standing in the garden cleaning up at 8-10 yards.

Right on schedule.  I've got 4 - 5 single bucks on cam coming in to the apple trees late, every night, scent checking for hot doe, only once following a doe. None of the usual pre-rut activity this year though that I could find.  Aftern observing the change in dates of the activity over last two years, I'd be surprised if the big bucks didn't keep cruising until around the 20th of November, which is a full week later that the normal Nov. 10 -12 peak

No bucks of any kind for almost 1 week. Just had a buck on my cam at 6:50 this morning in the daylight. The day walkers are here. Prepare yourselves.  :chuckle:

Watching a 3x4 push a couple does around the back yard right now. Not the greatest picture through the window.

I got a buck salvage today in Graham that was hit about 11 am.  Someone had cut off one side of his rack, the other looked to have been deformed/damaged in velvet, so no idea what he had, but his neck was swollen and his tarsals were plenty stinky.  He had been hit within 20 minutes of when I picked him up, as he wasn't there when I left the house but was on my way home.
