Multi Season application period is far too long.  You should have the application period Jan1 to Jan30.  Results in Feb.  Everyone is good to go before the regular special permit season process begins.  we don't need months and months to decide whether or not to put in for multi season.  The real planning happens after you pull the multi season, anyway.  This would be a huge "give" from the WDFW and would cost them nothing and would greatly improve planning for the hunters.
Introduce someone new to hunting this year.

If everyone has to submit the special permit online.......we should get the results the next day.
Its not that easy, there are a few threads that have talked about it.

I should have known. The days of the easy solution are long gone.

I do wish the results could be just a couple weeks earlier. Or if not, if the WDFW could somehow coordinate with Weyerhaeuser so that Weyerhaeuser access permits all go up for sale after the WDFW permit results are out.

Multi season is a whole other mess, they should just make deer OTC with no cap. But they would lose out on app fees.

Do you not think that would create even more issues they should reduce the number of not honestly due away with them all together

I think they should just charge their precious app fee for the deer multi, and have an unlimited number of deer tags.

I’m kinda scratching my head a bit, very surprised so many say leave it how it is? Do those people think 4 weeks of open period is needed?

After having the opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes this past year, I’d support almost anything that makes it easier to get results out sooner. 2 weeks is plenty of time to get your applications in. Also with the amount of emails and other reminders from the wdfw to get your applications in, if someone screws up and forgets, it’s not wdfw’s fault. Shorten the application window and get the results out to us sooner. That’s my vote.

Several years ago I forgot to submit my Spring Bear app. Deadline was on a Saturday, and we were on vacation. Called them on Monday (because I figured I’d give it a shot) and they told me “too bad” and that I would only get points that year. So, it seems they certainly can take that stance.

I would be all for shortening the application period. I generally know what my choices are going to be before the regs even come out, assuming no major changes are made.

Fine the way it is, it gives guys like me whose vacation system is an absolute nightmare time to get it all worked out.

wouldn't knowing that you pulled a limited entry permit earlier in the year give you MORE time to figure out the vacation thing? Our calendar is the same train wreck as yours it sounds like and I know personally I'd love an earlier notification.

I'm with you Jerry on getting this ball rolling earlier in the year. Zero reason it can't be. Shift commission meetings earlier to correspond with an earlier draw date and wham bam we are off to the races.

I know I say it every year but WA is one of the fastest states in the west with their turn around time with arguably the most convoluted draws of any state so I won't ever give them grief about working hard to get them done.

No, my vacation slots are submitted for the entire year well before any applications are even due.  We're actually doing it right now for 2023.  It sucks. If I put in vacation for a moose hunt on the off chance I get drawn, then I loose the September archery hunt vacation slots.  So all I can do is put in for draws that align with my OTC hunts I'm already taking off.  What I wouldn't do is put in leave for an OTC hunt then get drawn for a hunt and not be able to get off work!

What would be nice is have the draws done the year prior lol!
