air rifle
« on: May 26, 2009, 08:05:56 PM »
Here's my new air rifle, it's a .20 cal., Beeman R9 with a 3-9x40 scope.  It shoots 800 fps. I can't wait until this winter when I can get out and shoot some crows.

Looks like a stout gun. Should be fun.

Yep it is a break barrel.  I am surprised how quiet and accurate this gun is.

My dad had a break barrel pellet gun when I was a kid, used for starlings...that thing was awesome!

I bought a Gamo a couple months ago .177 1200fps, with an air rifle scope. it shoots well but the trigger is just horrible. Is there anything to be done with it???

YES!!! Gamo triggers are aweful. Definitely the last Gamo air rifle I will ever buy. Then again I think I was spoiled with my Feinwerkbau 601.

I got the same problem with my Gamo.  I hate the trigger and it has a nasty jump too.  Don't know if its the brand or just the lower end guns (at least mine is a lower end one).

Nice Beeman!  I have one of the cheaper models (GS950 in 22Cal) and am happy with it.  I'd like to know what kind of groups you all get with these airguns?  I sat down at the range, shot 6 types of pellets at 25 yards, 5 shot groups.  I was getting 1/2 inch groups at that distance.  I'm not sure what to expect out of these.  At 50 yards it was like 1.5 inch groups, about 7 inches low when sighted in at 25yds.

I keep wondering what to buy next for an even more accurate airgun (pcp or springer), and what to expect.

Some of the new air guns are just plan accurate. I know the air force we have at work will almost shot a 1 hole group at 50yd. I have shot pigeons at 100yds on some of the projects with an HW77, you just have to watch then wind and know the drop.

The gun is really accurate. When I was sighting it in I put 3 shots in the same hole at 30yrds :IBCOOL:. I haven't been able to hold it steady enough to do it again though  :bash:.

I put about 50 rounds into a three inch circle with a "rest" (leaning against a fence post)at 50 yards the other night with no outliers that I know about.

I was chatting with a guy from Sweden that hunts deer with his 9mm air rifle.  I guess they make hunting calibers.  For big game on the European continent.  Might be fun.
