Retro Cow call
« on: January 13, 2023, 06:41:41 AM »
Remember these? Found it in my archery tackle box, still sounds pretty good. Always had to carry several extra rubber bands with ya.

I remember. This and the similar bull call were what I learned on. I remember finding one at the end of a gated road once as a kid and thinking I'd won the lottery ro have a spare lol

I wonder where mine went to

That was the first cow call I owned! Seeing that pic brings back some great memories.

I still have mine and their bugle tube.  Bought in 2003-2004 in high school, along with a few books about elk hunting and calling.  I still use them too, used the bugle last year, worked great.  Bands though, gotta have extras!  Didn't realize it was retro until I clicked on this post, damn, it is old, me too :chuckle:

High school in 2004  :chuckle: :chuckle: That's not even close to old

Those calls were decent. Good tone. I love Lauback's books. Very realistic and 'field applicable'.  :twocents:

I know, just messin, old in spirit and soul though!  The last of the good years before social media took off.  Yes, I loved Elk Talk, really got me interested.  Can't remember what it was out of, some magazine or something, but they had all the outdoors books listed that you could order for like 10 bucks a piece.  Got tons of em, elk and deer hunting, taxidermy, food plots, you name it, I ordered it!

Found the stash  :IBCOOL:

Some really good memories, going in Saturday night to the video store to rent a Gordon Eastman movie.    It was a big deal for us to be able to watch TV, and for my Dad to watch.   Not hunting related, we used to also do Warren Miller ski flicks.   None of us would ski, but we enjoyed the scenery, the comedy and I guess Warrens narration.
